Canadian actress, Alison Pill. Pill began her career as a child actress when she was twelve and appeared in many movies and television shows. She became an adult, and the series The Book of Daniel brought her breakthrough (2006). That same year, she was nominated in a play for her performance in Lieutenant Inishmore for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress (2006). The films Confessions of the Teenage Drama Queen (2004), Milk (2008), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), Midnight (2011), Zooms (2015), and In Treatment (2009) television series The Pillars of the Earth (2010) and The Newsroom (2012–14) were prominently featured by Pill.
When she was 10 years old, she decided to start an acting career. She was chosen to tell one of her performances as a member of the Toronto Children’s Chorus. Her mother attempted to discourage Alison by getting her work on the series Kung Fu: the legend goes on, as a background performer. She had played a part in an event of the children’s episode The New Ghostwriter Mysteries, at the time she was 11.
When she was 12, she took part in two TV and mini series film, a guest appearance on the PSI Factor TV series and spoke of a character on a series of animations. The following year, she came across a small part of Skipped Parts in 2000, with Drew Barrymore and Mischa Barton, followed by four more TV movies and features that year, including playing Farrah Fawcett’s daughters in the TNT film Baby, and playing the leading role in the Canadian movie The Dinosaur Hunter.
In 2001 she became young Lorna with Judy Garland’s Biopic Life: Me & My Shadows in the ABC-TV, based on Garland’s daughter, Lorna Lair’s memoirs. In 2003, in the indie feature Pieces of April, she played Katie Holmes’ sister. Pill won the lead in Fast Food High, a teenager in the CTV-TV movie, trying to set up a union in a fast food restaurant. In 2003, she also took part in the Teenage Drama Queen’s Confessions with the star Lindsay Lohan.
Pill went on to perform, with None of the Above being her first piece in her theatre credentials as the New York City show. The distance from here, the mountains, Blackbird, Mauritius followed. In 2006, she played in the short-lived NBC The Book of Daniel as Grace Webster. She was nominated in a play for her performance as Mairead in Martin McDonagh’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore for a Tony Award for the best featured actress in the same year.
Pill’s training was done via a programme for young people at the business due to her busy work schedule. Pill has graduated from high school, but has continued to do films like Dan in Real Life in 2007 and moved to New York to study theatre.
In 2009, she was playing the sci-fi “Meredith Moon” and “The Real North Pole” in a Twilight Zone-inspired concert with Erin Hill & her Psychedelic Harp; she was casted on the In Treatment in April. Later in the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the world, she performed Kim Pine, and in Scott Pilgrim vs. the animation. In the miniseries The Pillars of the Earth she depicted Empress Maud.
She has worked twice with Woody Allen, as Zelda Fitzgerald at Midnight in Paris, and as Hayley in To Rome with Love, in the theatre with Abigail Breslin and Pill, with Broadway’s “The Miracle Worker.” Pill starred as a blind lady, who had to fight for his life; she also starred in Snowpiercer’s film together avec Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, released in 2013, in a new adaptation of the “Wait Until Dark.”
She was featured in Maggie Jordan’s HBO series The Newsroom by Aaron Sorkin from 2012 to its end in 2014. Cooties with Elijah Wood and Pill talk about the combination of comedy and horror, In Zoom, Pill is Emma, an aspiring comic-book artist; she has a part in Hail, Caesar! as the wife of Eddie Mannix. Pill is attached to the star in Sook Yin-Lee, Canadian indie Octavio Dead. From 2011 to 2013 Pill was involved in actor Jay Baruchel.
At an acceptance speech in the Genie Awards in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, Baruchel made their engagement public. On February 16, 2013, Baruchel spoke to their rupture in a Twitter post. In January 2015, Pill got involved with actor Joshua Leonard. After a four-month commitment, they married on May 24, 2015. They have Wilder Grace Leonard, a daughter, who was born on November 19, 2016.
